The history of establishment and development of Indira Memorial College Chandiput is on account of the dedicated endeavour of a team of social workers of the locality under the leadership of Sri Surjya Narayan Behera, the former Sarpanch of Chandiput Gram Panchayat for the spread of education in the remote and tribal area of Mohana Block in the district of Gajapati. Orissa. This illustrious institution was founded in 1985.
On the outskirts of a small village Chandiput 100 kms away from the historic city of Parlakhemundi. Indira Memorial College stands amid vast expending green field with natural abundance of a picturesque phenomenon. The Hilly background, view of the college provides an ideal atmosphere for healthy academic pursuit and dissemination of knowledge.
The College is named after the Ex Prime Minister of India Late Smt Indira Gandhi.
The college has assumed the status of a fully-fledged under Graduate Degree College in the year 1995. At present the student strength has gone up to more than 450 with Hons. Teaching provision in History and IR&PM. It is affiliated to Berhampur University, it is a premier Govt. Aided College, providing higher education to rural poor.
With a team of highly qualified teachers to achieve the height in different stages, Our students of degree courses have fared exceedingly well in the University Examinations and some students have brought laurels in academics and other spheres.
